"Huwei Rhyme - Puppetry Heritage Town" is a one-day trip selected as one of the "Taiwan Top 10 Happiness Trips" by the Tourism Bureau. After six months of proposal selection, Internet voting, professional accreditation, and a final site visit, Huwei Township is selected as one of the winners the Bureau announced on July 26.
During the selection process, the juries formed by the the Tourism Bureau are all in favor of Huwei Township. Tourism Bureau Deputy Director Liu Xi-Lin pointed out that puppetry has been internationally recognized as the icon of Taiwan, and its hometown is located in Yunlin County. In addition, a well-known writer, Liu Ke-Xiang, says that Yunlin County has all the feature of a tourist destination; therefore, people should consider it when theyre picking where to go for their next trip. Huwei Township of Yunlin County has retained the Puppet Museum, story land, and other Japanese-style buildings, which can be found rarely in Taiwan.
Due to all the attractions in Yunlin County and to provide a friendly tourism environment, Yunlin County Government has created several public transportation routes in the county. In 2013, a new route has been set up for touring around Beigan; its known as the "Taiwan Fun Travel - Beigang Prayers Line." This line is amount a series of tour network in Yunlin and Chiayi Counties. While on the way to Beigan, you can also visit Huwei Township which offers many Japanese style buildings and specialize in puppetry. There is going to be a celebration on October 5th to 13th in Huwei Township for the "2013 Yunlin International Puppet Festival."
Yunlin County Magistrate Su Zhi-Fen said that the 2013 Yunlin Agriculture Expo is going to be held in Huwei Township. Its goal is to drown people from the city into nature, through the arts as a medium, it also allows the people from the countryside to enjoy the contemporary art, and all in all it is to provide a foundation for people to understand the importance of our environment. Through the "Agriculture Expo" and the "Taiwan Fun Travel - Beigang Prayers Line," Yunlin County will be seen as a whole new Yunlin as "Tour Taiwan ‧ Take a dip in Yunlin"!
