To ensure the right for labors and to prevent mass labor dismissal, the Yunlin County
Government induces the law on protecting their rights. The ‘Act for Worker
Protection of Mass Redundancy’ which penalized those who dismiss labors largely
without following law procedures, was initiated on May 2003.
Indicated by the Department of Labor, companies who co-exist or adjust the number
of employees due to the ‘Labor Standards Act’ that caused mass redundancy should
practice the ‘Act for Worker Protection of Mass Redundancy’. The law suggests a 60-
days-advanced notice to the Department of Planning before dismissal. Two parties
would then discuss its financial situation. Those who disobey the law will be fined up
to 50-100 thousands NT.
The ‘Act for Worker Protection of Mass Redundancy’ should continually be in
practice and should not be violated intentionally by those who perform mass labor
dismissal, supported by Magistrate Lee in Yunlin County.
