Banana thief captured by surveillance camera

At 10pm on the night of 18th, in a farmland just outside of outer ring of Xinggui Village in Chitong township, a middle-age man broke in with a motorbike and a scythe into the banana garden, The crime act was taped by the owner’s surveillance camera, and was reported to the Rouping police station.

The police looked through the tape and matched it against CCTVs from several street intersections to identify the motor that the suspect was using. The suspect was called in but denied of committing the crime until the police had displayed all relevant evidence, including footages from CCTV and from the owner of the banana garden. Stolen bananas were found inside the warehouse of suspect Zhang who was later charged for thievery.

Police Chief Yu from Douliu Police station branch said that anti-theft work for agricultural products has always been a priority for the police. Farmers may request for additional assistance from police stations, based on specified seasonal products.
