Cherry blossom season blooming within the Lunnei community – cherish the rural elegance while it is blossoming

In the township of Tuku, within the Lunnei District, just outside of the Maguang Junior High School entrance, a stretch of 2 kilometers of cherry blossom trees are in full bloom. The Community Development Association came together with Yunlin County Government, Tuku Township Office, and the Agriculture Association on the 1st of April to kick start the Cherry Blossom Season. Magistrate Li Jinyong, Legislator Zhang Lishan, Chairman of the Representatives Wang Jinwen, Director General of the Agriculture Association Huang Wancong, and Lunnei District Development Association Board Director Xu Zehe warmly welcomes all visitors to witness the beautiful blooming cherry blossoms.

Magistrate Li Jinyong said, Lunnei community has worked very hard for many years on the cherry blossom avenue for it to become Taiwan’s famous Cherry Blossom Boulevard. In full bloom, a gallery of pink expands down the stretch providing a feast for the eyes to all the visitors. Many people specifically visit during the cherry blossom season to be enchanted by the elegant scenery. In particular, photography enthusiasts who visit every year to capture a picture of the alluring attraction.

The celebration of the cherry blossom season is combined with Children’s Day activities. To encourage and congratulate the town’s exemplary children, awards were presented to them by Magistrate Li Jinyong. A painting competition for children was also held with the theme of “Painting My Hometown”, where the children illustrated their image of the hometown cherry blossom’s beauty. Activities were accompanied with the agricultural markets, selling local agricultural products. For example, cherry tomatoes, sweet potatoes, yam, peanut confectionaries, black peanuts, herbal grass (tea), and Chinese mahogany. Utilizing the cherry blossom season, local farmers can use this opportunity to promote their products.

Stage performance activities were presented by local schools of Tuku Township; Maguang Junior High School, Honglun Primary School, and Tuku Town Kindergarten. The schools came together to put together a wonderful performance, to encourage more participation from school children and the younger generation in the community, in order to cultivate community awareness.
