The first match for the 28th year of the Chinese Professional Baseball League (CPBL) will be played in the Douliu Baseball Stadium. At 6:15 pm on April 13th, the Unilions Baseball team will take on the Elephant Brothers Baseball Club, with Deputy Magistrate Ding Yanzhe throwing the ceremonial first pitch.
Donghe Primary School delivered an exhilarating pre-game dance performance with 100 people [Lions Marching Forward] and the Unilions representatives donated baseballs to the Donghe Baseball Team, adding a sense of warmth and joy on top of the excitement shown at the game.
Deputy Magistrate expressed, that in order for baseball to flourish, Taiwan needs to rekindle its reputation as a baseball kingdom. The county government vigorously promotes baseball, encouraging local junior high schools and primary schools to form youth baseball teams and young-adults’ baseball teams. Baseball lovers are welcomed at the Douliu Baseball Stadium, which is a national first-class baseball field, encouraging more players to play.
This year, the CPBL has scheduled 13 matches to be played at the Douliu Baseball Stadium, doubling the number of matches played in previous years. Students can use their student ID cards to get free admission into the stadium to watch the matches from the outer field seating areas. Including the game today (April 13th) against the Elephant Brothers, the Unilions have arranged for 9 of the scheduled matches to be played as the “home” team.
