Gukeng, Dabu Community’s 2017 Bamboo Park Cycling trip

Magistrate Li Jinyong, Deputy Director of Agriculture Xu Yongyu, Community representative Huang Zhongxing and Huang Chaoyu, Director of the Community Development Association Zhang Zhuxiong, former Director Liu Siyong and other tourists, on 23rd July, took part in the 2017 Bamboo Park Cycling trip hosted by the Dabu Community in Gukeng. A chance to experience a relaxing fun ride to see the production of bamboo shoots and Gukeng’s cultural industry.

Magistrate Li Jinyong said, in regards to the production of preserved bamboo shoots, approximately 5 million tons are produced yearly. Fresh bamboo shoots are valued very highly and bamboo shoots are used in many cuisines giving a delicious fresh taste. Bamboos can also be produced into cultural art products. The community came up with an innovative idea of integrating a cycling trip along the bamboo production line as a way to improve awareness of the bamboo production industry as well has have a fun refreshing ride through Gukeng, Yunlin.

Township Mayor, Huang Yiling said, Gukeng is a prosperous place with beautiful mountains and flowing rivers, a great agricultural area. Through the work put in by the community to integrate the cultural industry with tourist activities, tourists are able to gain a better understanding of the community by taking part in the activities offered throughout our production industry.

The Gukeng Township Office, together with the Huashan Foundation, will set up a donation box for the Green Tunnel. At the same time Huashan Foundation invited a Gukeng famous calligrapher, Huang Dengshi, to the donation event to display his fine calligraphy products which will be on sale.

Jianfushan also responded to public interest and worked together to promote sightseeing tours. The Prince Hotel will sponsor 100 sweet dragon bamboo shoot bread, made from Gukeng local sweet bamboo shoots. Made by chefs from the 5-star hotel, the hand-made bread will be available for the public during the donation event at the Green Tunnel site.
