In addition to the energetic players, many enthusiastic fans gathered to catch a glimpse of the team. Yunlin County Magistrate Chang Li‑shan, accompanied by Legislator Chang Chia‑chun, attended the event to encourage the players and to wish the Dragons a smooth training season and outstanding performance in the upcoming year.
Magistrate Chang stated that it is a great honor that the Wei Chuan Dragons have chosen Douliu Baseball Stadium in Yunlin as their training base. On behalf of the Yunlin County Government and all local residents, she welcomed the team to cultivate baseball talent here. She also expressed gratitude to Chairman Wei Ying‑chung, the key supporter of the team, for his contributions in funding, effort, and the development of numerous players. She thanked all the players for their hard work, the coaching staff for their dedicated guidance, and the operations team for their silent support behind the scenes, enabling the team to move forward steadily.
Magistrate Chang emphasized that baseball is Taiwan’s national sport and a source of unity for its people. Developing baseball talent requires a strong base, and Yunlin County is honored to provide facilities that meet the needs of the team. Over the past few years, the county has continuously improved sports venues and equipment, actively supported various sporting events, and made great efforts when hosting the 2021 National High School Games, the upcoming 2025 National Games, and many other competitions. The county is fully committed to supporting baseball and looks forward to continued cooperation. She assured that the Yunlin County Government will spare no effort to meet any needs of the team, and she wished the Dragons success in the new season, hoping they achieve remarkable results and continue bringing pride to Taiwan on the global stage.
Chairman Wei Ying‑chung noted that the Wei Chuan Dragons made their return in 2019 and were approved by the CPBL in the same year, becoming the league’s fifth team. They officially joined the first‑team competitions in 2021. He expressed appreciation for the strong support from the Yunlin County Government, which has provided excellent stadium facilities and enabled the Dragons to establish themselves in Yunlin and achieve steady performance growth with Douliu Baseball Stadium as their training base.
In addition, the Dragons welcomed several important new members this year, including Coach Kenji Kokubo and new players Jen‑ho Tseng, Yao Kuan‑wei, Lai Chih‑chi, and Chen Wei‑hao. During the ceremony, Chairman Wei personally presented team jerseys to each newcomer. The entire team then chanted the new season slogan, “Run & Roar,” symbolizing the Dragons’ determination to charge forward like a soaring dragon, reclaim glory, and give their all in every game.
