Since the Labor Standards Act does not apply to foreign domestic workers (foreign caretakers and maids), the wages are predetermined and negotiated between the employer and employee. The general wage is averaged at NTD 15,849 currently, to include meals and accommodation.
The Ministry of Labor makes corresponding adjustment to the minimum wage of foreign domestic workers based on the price index and the economic burden of employers, in order to meet the basic living standard and protect the rights of the foreign employees in Taiwan. Starting September 1st 104 year, the contracted wage will be adjusted to NTD 17,000 for newly admitted foreign workers when applying for work permit at the foreign worker’s home country.
