On May 19th, 10 am at Renwen Park, Deputy Magistrate Ding Yanzhe, Director of Health Bureau Wu Zhaojun, Deputy Director of Social Welfare Chen Yijun, special event physician Ding Rongzhe and fellow Yunlin Mascots hosted a picnic event in order to promote the National 520 Blood Donation event occurring on May 20th. In collaboration with the National 520 Blood Donation event, Yunlin will host a blood donation event on May 20th at Huwei Township Library.
520 can have a special meaning because while it represents the date, in mandarin it sounds like “wo ai ni” which means “I love you”. This makes the National 520 Blood Drive event very meaningful as donating blood is a way to share your warmth, share your love. Deputy Magistrate Ding Yanzhe announced that the 520 Blood Donation event will be held on May 20th at Huwei Township Library. The event will commence from 9am to 4pm with a picnic arrangement outside the library for families and friends of the donors to enjoy while the donors are donating blood. Donors can receive a meal at the picnic afterwards.
The director of the blood donation center, Huang Shuzhen, said there is a shortage of A, B, and O Blood types in their blood bank inventory so he welcomes everyone to come and take part in the National 520 Blood Donation event.
Event physician Ding Rongzhe expressed to locals that if they wish to donate blood but have difficulty getting to Huwei Township Library, the Huwei Blood Donation Center (2nd Floor, 446 Guangfu Road, Huwei District) are also happy to assist with the blood donation. Donor on the day from both sites will be eligible to participate in a special raffle draw as part of the Blood Donation event. Prizes for the raffle include; the latest red iPhone 7, 40” flat screen TV, bicycles, and other gift vouchers. There are plenty of prizes up for grab so hope many residents can take part in the blood donation event as well as a fun day out with family and friends.
