For four-consecutive days, Yunlin County Government will be hosting the grand debut of the “2017 Taiwan Quality Coffee Bean Evaluation” event, from September 22nd to the 25th. The event will be located at the Sun Hao International Hotel next to the Douliu Baseball Stadium.
Yunlin county’s magistrate Li Jinyong said Gukeng’s Hebaoshan played an important role for the progressive improvements in planting and baking techniques, assisting in the development of Taiwan coffee beans to reach a level of premium quality. Not only has the production of coffee become a growing identity in Taiwan, international markets have also started to notice the potential of Taiwan coffee.
Director-general of Agriculture, Lin Huiru, noted since 2011, the Council of Agriculture Executive Yuan began promoting Taiwan’s specialty coffee internationally through its coffee evaluation program. In addition, various coffee producing districts and counties began hosting these events in turn starting from 2015. After winning the rights to host the “2017 Taiwan Quality Coffee Bean Evaluation” event, Yunlin County hopes to convey its role in coffee and its origins, as well as to share its technical achievements in the production of coffee. Director Lin further pointed out, 2017’s biggest feature is to emphasize the quality of the coffee beans in response to concerns of food safety. All participants entered for the evaluation must first obtain a traceable Taiwan agricultural production QR Code. Currently, there is a total of 116 coffee beans entered for evaluation. Furthermore, the Tea Research and Extension Station will be responsible for guiding the evaluation process, based on their basic qualifications, 12 individuals will be selected for the judge panel through open recruitment.
The evaluation of coffee beans will be located on the third floor at the San Hao International Hotel. Anyone interested in the event are invited to participate in the voting process to ensure transparency. Other than main event, the county government has welcomed well-known producers to promote their products on the first floor, allowing consumers to purchase coffee beans effortlessly. Furthermore, desserts and coffee machines will also be available, accompanied by presentation about coffee by experts at Coffee Corner.
In addition to cooperate with the national competition, various well-known Taiwanese produce goods will be sold outdoors on the first floor, perfect opportunity to find Autumn Festival gifts for friends and family!
