African who received aid from Taiwan visits Yunlin. Yunlin magistrate Li looks forward to agricultural and educational exchange.

Daniel, a 34-year old from Ethiopia, whom previously received humanitarian assistance from the Taiwanese government, will be visiting Taiwan Fund for Children and Families in Yunlin today on October 5th. Chen Chanxun, with the company of Yunlin’s magistrate Li Jinyong, welcomed Daniel by gifting a Chinese puppet and Gukeng’s coffee. With Daniel’s visit, Yunlin government hopes that the children in Yunlin may learn from what Daniel’s experience.

Magistrate Li mentioned that at the age of 11, Daniel received financial aid from Taiwan Fund for Children and Families organization. The main purpose of Daniel’s visit to Taiwan is to express his gratitude to Miss Qiu, for the 11 years of support he received from her. A display of gratitude is highly-valued and appreciated among the Taiwanese. Daniel also hopes to share his experience growing up and the struggles he overcame to the children in Yunlin. In addition, Yunlin is also Taiwan’s largest agriculture-focused county, rich in agricultural and fishery development. Taiwan looks forward for Daniel to return to his home country and share his discoveries of agriculture with his countrymen, promoting agricultural trade between the two countries.

Daniel is also very pleased to share with Yunlin, stating that at the time of his father’s death, his native land was also very poor and under-developed, creating wide-spread famine, was very fortunate to receive domestic aid from Taiwan. Not only for food to eat and clothing to wear, but also for the opportunity to attend higher-education to become a math teacher. Daniel further mentioned that back home in Ethiopia, other than the coffee production, all other farming have not been flourishing. Hoping that he’ll be able to see the rich agricultural landscapes by visiting Taiwan’s agriculture county, Yunlin; In addition to today’s World Teacher’s Day (Oct. 10th), Daniel will be visiting Huwei AnQing Elementary School.

Daniel then continued his visitation by visiting AnQing Elementary as a day teacher. The children were delighted when Daniel shared about African culture and their growth experience, as well as taught them the language spoken in Ethiopia, good morning (Endemen Alachu), thank you (amesegnalew), sorry (yekirta), and, I’m full (belak). Afterwards, Daniel went to Huwei and Xiluo to visit the agricultural development of the current seasonal crops, and fisheries development at Taixi.
