Issuing Unit: Department of Culture and Tourism
The Yunlin County Government, the Yunlin Real Estate Development Association, and the Yunlin Cultural Foundation jointly hosted the 2025 Scholarship Award Ceremony for Elementary and Junior High Students today (28) at the County Hall Auditorium. A total of NT$600,000 was awarded to 200 students, each receiving NT$3,000. Magistrate Chang Li-shan, Association Chairman Kung Kun-chi, Secretary-General Chou Tsung-cheng, Culture and Tourism Director Chen Pi-chun, and County Councilor Chiang Wen-teng attended to encourage students to study diligently and contribute to society in the future, continuing the cycle of goodness.
Magistrate Chang expressed that these scholarships aim to encourage students from disadvantaged families to pursue their dreams and study hard. She thanked the Real Estate Development Association for its 15 years of continuous charitable efforts, hoping that students will achieve excellent academic results and, in the future, give back to society. This initiative reflects the spirit of mutual support and social responsibility.
Culture and Tourism Director Chen Pi-chun emphasized the significance of this charitable program, which not only provides financial assistance during the winter season but also inspires children to share their dreams. Among the submitted essays, one story was particularly moving: a first-year junior high student named Xiao Sheng, who has been severely disabled since infancy, wrote that his greatest wish is simply to “walk normally.” Despite his condition, Xiao Sheng excels academically and has represented his class in reading and speech contests. Recently, he underwent surgery and hopes to regain enough mobility to use his electric wheelchair independently. His determination and optimism deeply touched everyone. The scholarship aims to help children like Xiao Sheng grow safely and happily, and shine in their future careers.
Association Chairman Kung Kun-chi stated that the organization upholds the principle of “Giving back to society” and has hosted this scholarship program annually for 15 years. The number of recipients has grown from 50 to 200, with 61 schools and 219 students applying this year. To date, the association has awarded NT$4.8 million to 1,600 students, reducing financial burdens and promoting equal educational opportunities. This effort ensures that children feel society’s warmth and encouragement during the year-end season.
Secretary-General Chou Tsung-cheng noted that the event featured performances by children from Yunlin Social Care Association and Douliu Shinguang Community Development Association, including Taiko drumming, lion dance, sign language performances, and dances, conveying the message: “Never think you are useless; everyone has unique contributions.”
Yunlin Social Care Association Chairman Huang Chih-wei reflected on the program’s 15-year journey, noting that many past recipients have grown into successful professionals. The association has organized this event for eight years, involving children from after-school programs in service-learning activities to instill confidence and self-worth.
Magistrate Chang concluded by thanking the association for its long-standing commitment and called on more businesses to join in fulfilling corporate social responsibility, injecting positive energy into education and support for disadvantaged families, and helping children find hope and purpose.
