🤝“Lions Bring Love and Warmth — Caring for Households Affected by Typhoon Danas” Material Donation Deputy Magistrate Hsieh Shu-Ya Thanks Lions Clubs International for Delivering Love and Hope to Yunlin

Issued by: Department of Social Affairs
Last year, Typhoon Danas severely impacted the Yunlin–Chiayi–Tainan region. Upholding the vision of “Moving Forward Together, Boundless Goodness,” Lions Clubs International District 300E-1 has consistently promoted charitable efforts worldwide and put community service into action. As the year draws to a close, the district donated 500 sets of practical supplies—including electric kettles, hair dryers, stainless steel insulated bottle gift sets, portable butane stoves, and stainless steel multi‑purpose steamer pots—to disadvantaged residents of Yunlin. Through this act of generosity, they hope that vulnerable groups in the county can feel the care and support from all sectors of society, fostering a spirit of mutual assistance and shared prosperity.
This morning (8th), the Yunlin County Government held a press conference titled “Lions Bring Love and Warmth — Caring for Households Affected by Typhoon Danas” in the Civic Hall. Deputy Magistrate Hsieh Shu-Ya accepted the donations on behalf of the county and expressed gratitude to Lions Clubs International District 300E-1. She emphasized that while the material donations bring warmth, they also unite society with compassion, and she looks forward to continued cooperation to build a loving and happy community.
Deputy Magistrate Hsieh Shu-Ya stated that Yunlin is an aging county, with seniors aged 65 and above accounting for 21.51% of the population. Therefore, elderly welfare has always been a priority for the county government. In addition to continuing senior meal programs, establishing community care centers, opening active-aging learning centers, and operating senior academies, the county also launched the “Yunlin County Double‑B Service Program for Solitary Seniors and Disadvantaged Households — Better Housing & Better Food.” Through this program, the government proactively identifies solitary elderly residents and vulnerable families in urgent need of assistance and provides timely support such as home repairs, food resources, and winter‑warming supplies to improve living conditions and quality of life.
Deputy Magistrate Hsieh further expressed her gratitude to District Governor Huang Yu-Chou of Lions Clubs International 300E-1, Disaster Relief Committee Chair Hsieh Han-Chang, and their team for bringing warmth to Yunlin. In line with the theme “Lions Bring Love and Warmth,” today’s donation represents not just practical appliances, but the beginning of a cycle of kindness—where love inspires love and warmth generates warmth. She hopes that with everyone’s efforts, Taiwan will become better and Yunlin even warmer.
District Governor Huang Yu-Chou expressed his appreciation to the Yunlin County Government for giving the Lions Club the opportunity to participate in this donation effort and help deliver supplies directly to affected households. He hopes that even the smallest contribution—a spark of light—can ignite positive change in society, helping to reach the corners most in need of care.
Director of Social Affairs Lin Wen-Chih noted that Lions Clubs International has always extended a helping hand at the most critical moments. Although Typhoon Danas caused relatively limited roof damage to homes in Yunlin, there remained significant needs for essential living supplies. This donation event, “Lions Bring Love and Warmth — Caring for Households Affected by Typhoon Danas,” comes as timely and welcome support. The Department of Social Affairs will distribute the supplies appropriately to ensure that every act of kindness reaches those who need it most.
