📦“Yunlin Mountain & Sea Feast” Fishery and Food Education Promotion Launches Showcasing Yunlin’s Strength in Agricultural and Fishery Products and Its “Fish-Eating Power”

Issuing Unit: Agriculture Department
On the 9th, the Yunlin County Government held the 2026 “Yunlin Mountain & Sea Feast” fishery and food education promotion event at the “Taiwan Tilapia Ecological and Creative Park” in Kouhu Township. By incorporating locally sourced aquatic products and agricultural produce as the main ingredients, and partnering with lodging and restaurant businesses for creative culinary development, a variety of特色 dishes were introduced. These dishes highlight Yunlin’s abundant “fish-eating power,” shaped by the fusion of its mountain and marine resources, presenting a feast that integrates gourmet flavor, educational value, and sustainability.
County Magistrate Chang Li-Shan stated that at the end of last year, the Kaohsiung City Health Bureau’s mistaken testing incident temporarily impacted Yunlin’s tilapia industry and raised public concerns over food safety. Fortunately, through the joint efforts of the county government, businesses, and fishers, a series of rigorous tests were conducted on related products, all showing zero detection of contaminants. This not only cleared public doubts but also rebuilt consumer confidence in Taiwan tilapia as well as Yunlin’s agricultural, fishery, and livestock products.
Chang emphasized that Yunlin has always implemented strict quality control for agricultural, fishery, and livestock products. From production sites to dining tables, producers adhere to autonomous management and safety inspections. She expressed gratitude to Wang Yi-Feng, General Manager of Kouhu Township Fishery Production Cooperative, for his long-standing commitment to quality, and to each contract farmer for their discipline in aquaculture management. Their efforts ensure that products meet the highest standards, strengthening the county government’s confidence in the safety of Yunlin’s fishery products.
She added that the “Yunlin Mountain & Sea Feast” event integrates contributions from local businesses such as Janfusun Resort Hotel, San Ho International Hotel, Tiger Tail Ocean Treasure, Good Shrimp Men, and the Kouhu Fishery Production Cooperative. By fully combining marine products, agricultural produce, and livestock goods, chefs transformed these ingredients into exquisite New Year dishes. These dishes offer excellent quality at affordable prices, allowing citizens to easily prepare festive meals, enjoy them with peace of mind, and share Yunlin’s most representative flavors with their families.
Chang also noted that “Yunlin Mountain & Sea Feast” is not only a culinary showcase but also an engaging and educational food and fishery learning experience. She hopes the event strengthens connections among production areas, restaurants, and tourism, thereby adding value to local industries.
Wang Yi-Feng, General Manager of the Kouhu Fishery Production Cooperative, stated that Yunlin’s Taiwan tilapia leads the nation in production volume, quality, and export performance. He expressed gratitude to the county government for promptly helping producers clear their names during the recent incident, minimizing damages. The cooperative will continue improving quality and helping fishers expand international markets.
Deputy Magistrate Hsieh Shu-Ya emphasized that health is cultivated through what we eat. Yunlin boasts the highest-quality agricultural, fishery, and livestock products, and she encourages citizens to support local farmers while enhancing the health of themselves and their families.
Kouhu Township Chief Lee Lung-Fei remarked that “Yunlin Mountain & Sea Feast” is the first major promotional event of 2026. He expressed appreciation for the county government’s support of local industries and sincerely invited consumers nationwide to visit Kouhu to purchase high-quality agricultural and fishery products and celebrate the Lunar New Year.
Agriculture Department Director Wei Sheng-De stated that today’s blend of fresh, safe, and delicious dishes demonstrates the strong power of Yunlin’s agriculture and fishery industries. He welcomed companies and organizations to host year-end banquets in Yunlin, taste premium agricultural and fishery products, and learn more about local industries while practicing food and fishery education.
Wei further emphasized that whether in the mountains, coastal areas, or plains, Yunlin’s agricultural, fishery, and livestock production all hold nationally significant positions, accounting for more than one-third of Taiwan’s total output. Yunlin is truly a major agricultural and fishery powerhouse. The county government will continue upholding the principles of safety, health, and freshness to ensure the quality of all agricultural products.
