To commemorate the international superstar Teresa Teng, who was born in Yunlin, the Yunlin County Government will hold the grand concert “Turning an Era into Teresa Teng – Teresa Teng Music Concert” on Saturday, January 24 at 7:00 PM at the Yunlin Performance Hall. Through cross-generational singers reinterpreting classic melodies, this event pays tribute to the eternal diva.
Today (12th), the Department of Culture and Tourism held a press conference for the “Turning an Era into Teresa Teng – Teresa Teng Music Concert”, where the venue was filled with soft and melodious music. County Magistrate Chang Li-Shan, Deputy Magistrate Chen Bi-Jun, Councilors Lin Wen-Bin, Wang Yu-Chi, Huang Mei-Yao, Executive Director of the Teresa Teng Cultural Foundation Deng Yong-Jia, Chairman of the Teresa Teng Cultural Association in Baozhong Township Huang Yao-Nan, Chairman of Yuqi International Co., Ltd. Lin Wen-Zhi, as well as representatives from the Yunlin Tourism Association and the arts community attended the event.
County Magistrate Chang Li-Shan stated that Teresa Teng was born in Tianyang Village, Yunlin, which holds extraordinary significance for the county. In 2018, the county government designated her birthday, January 29, as “Teresa Teng Day” and has continued to host commemorative concerts annually around this date. Through music, the county hopes to carry forward Teresa Teng’s spirit and emotions, allowing the world to see Yunlin. This concert is not only a tribute to Teresa Teng but also a showcase of Yunlin’s achievements in promoting culture and the arts.
Magistrate Chang expressed gratitude to local enterprises such as Yuqi International, Feng Tay Enterprises, and Chiao Hsin Enterprises for their long-term support of cultural activities. Through public-private collaboration, residents can enjoy high-quality performances at affordable prices without traveling to metropolitan areas, experiencing world-class musical feasts right at home.
Deputy Magistrate Chen Bi-Jun noted that since its renovation in 2022, the Yunlin Performance Hall has reached national-level standards and has been highly praised by performing groups. This concert specially invites new-generation singers such as Rhydian Vaughan, Wu Wen-Fang, Wei Jia-Ying, and Yu Cai-Zhen to reinterpret Teresa Teng’s classics from different generational perspectives, highlighting the timeless charm of her music across eras.
Chen emphasized that this year’s theme, “Turning an Era into Teresa Teng,” is not about imitation or simple covers. Instead, it uses today’s voices to sing back the emotions and memories of that era. Teresa Teng is not merely a memory of the past but a cultural symbol that continues to converse with contemporary society.
Chairman Lin Wen-Zhi of Yuqi International remarked that, thanks to the efforts of the county government team, Yunlin has transformed from an agricultural county once regarded as a “cultural desert” into a happy city rich in cultural heritage and artistic vitality. Enterprises will continue to support cultural activities and work with the county government to enhance Yunlin’s cultural soft power.
The Department of Culture and Tourism stated that this concert’s program design focuses on emotional depth and the atmosphere of the times. Through live performances and stage visuals, it will lead the audience into the era shaped by Teresa Teng’s music. From familiar melodies, audiences will discover how different generations interpret and resonate with the same songs, further demonstrating the profound power of music as a cultural carrier.
Tickets for the concert are free and can be reserved starting at 12:00 noon on January 13, 2026, via OPENTIX on the National Theater & Concert Hall Cultural Life platform. The public is invited to step into the Yunlin Performance Hall, reunite with the classics through song, and cherish Teresa Teng’s memory while experiencing the emotional impact of cross-generational music.
