Bai International Company Limited through the Yunlin county government bought 10 tons of cabbage from farmers due to its extreme low price. On 13th of this month, the company gives away the cabbage to low-income people. This charity activity was publicly applauded by Yunlin County Magistrate Su Chih-fen.
Yunlin County, as major domestic vegetable production county in the country, grows cabbage and other vegetables on an area of 3,100 hectares and yields as much as 150,000 metric tons. All thanks to cool mild climate in winter time all produces production are being turn to high gear. As a result price of cabbage and Chinese cabbage is lower to 4.0-4.9 NT dollars and 4.1-5.7 NT dollars per kilogram respectively.
Magistrate Su states that for bulk purchase of these produces discount is given; for instance 500 boxes (weight 10 tones) of cabbage can be purchased for only 60 thousands NT dollars. The deal does not stop here, free shipping is also offered. Magistrate Su welcomes everyone especially government agencies and organizations to make purchases in order to support local agricultural development.
Magistrate Su points out that winter time is the best time to have a lot of produces such as cabbage, Chinese cabbage, broccoli, eggplant and many others as they contain rich nutrition. Yunlin County Government encourages people to buy produces from local business as it not only helps local businesses but also is much economical.
