Yunlin County Government released the first quarter environmental clean village assessment results

To improve the overall quality of the environment, Yunlin County Environmental Protection Bureau has started its assessment in the first quarter of this year. Field assessments are unannounced, so no one would know when the auditors are coming to town. The assessment will be based on in several categories includes geographical environment, population, resources, urban and rural differences, and other environmental factors. In addition, the assessment will be divided into mountain region and coastal region. To be a fair, open and unbiased assessment, three auditors are chosen from the bureau.

In addition, this year’s (102) assessment will be conducted in 387 villages in the county, and the performance measure is based on several items includes huge garbage, cigarette butts, betel residue, dog stools, small ads, water containers and other indicators.

Through the three members, the assessment finally has a conclusion for the first phase! The 3 winners of the mountain region are Gukeng Township, Dapi Township, and Douliou City, and for costal region, Dongshih Township, Mailiao Township, and Lunbei Township are the top three winners. On the hand, poor performance are found in mountain region of Cihtong Township, Linnei Township, and Siluo Township; and coastal region of Beigang Township, Taisi Township, and Yuanchang Township; all of which need improvement over the environmental control. The results of the first phase will be posted on a large electronic billboard in Yunlin County.

The bureau not only hope that the assessment will bring full participation from all residences in the implementation of environmental policies, but also fashion an ethical act amount people to conduct the eternal goal of “Making Yunlin County the Home of Spotless.”
