Yunlin County’s multi-language online information services website for new residents is officially launched!

The population of the new residents in Yunlin County has exceeded 15,000 people. To help new residents easily gather information on employment, education, social welfare, medical care, life counseling, personal safety and other information, the county government cooperated with local bureaus and other local service offices to set up a multi-language information website called “Yunlin County Multi-Language New Resident Services Website” (http://nit.yunlin.gov.tw ).

The information provided on the website can be viewed in six different languages; Chinese, English, Vietnamese, Indonesian, Thai and Cambodian. This allows new residents to easily access the website to search for information relevant to themselves and concurrently allows people in Taiwan to better understand the new residents’ information to promote and encourage multicultural integration.

County Magistrate Li Jinyong said that the county government places great importance on the service measures provided for the new residents. On top of establishing the Yunlin County New Residents Care and Counseling project team, the “Yunlin County Multi-Language New Resident Services Website” is also completed and released online this year. The website contains a wide range of information on the services that can help new residents settle in. The services are assigned into 6 main service items; education and learning, social services and welfare, vocational training, immigration, health care, and police & safety. In addition, services provided to the new residents include personal life and family counseling, adult language classes, parent-child interaction lectures, vocational training classes, social welfare subsidies applications, pre-nurse subsidies prior to obtaining health insurance, personal safety, and many other information. There are vast amounts of information located on the website and the new residents are welcomed to make use of the services.

The Director of the Civil Affairs Department, Cheng Yuenhong, said that in order to realize the new resident’s services, in addition to the release of the “Yunlin County Multi-Language New Resident Services Website”, the “New Residents Service Window” for the various districts Household Registration Offices need to be established. Services include providing consultation and referral services for the new residents’ services, and to conduct a “New Resident Adaptation Course” across the sea line and mountain line every year in order to create a safe and friendly environment for new residents to feel safe after becoming part of the community.
