Yunlin is an agriculture county. Irrigation is the lifeblood of agriculture. Mr. CHANG, Rong-Wei, since he took the position as the county magistrate, has been improving several farmland irrigation and drainage works, and rebuilding dikes to prevent the floods along the coast line.
In order to make the best use of water resources, Chichi Dam provides 860,000 tons of water for industry use per day. After the completion of Hushan Dam in 2008, it is expected to provide 694,000 cubic meter of water per day that will solve the problem of insufficient water supply in both Yunlin and Nantou County in dry season. With an appropriate planning, the dam itself and surrounding areas will be a perfect new scenic spot in the county that will bring prosperity to local economy.
