Mitigate flood in Sihu to build a safe homeland-Sihu Township

As a typical rural settlement in the coastal area, Sihu’s geographical features and changes have not only influenced villagers’ lifestyle but also witnessed the historical development of Sihu Township. Having comprehensive knowledge about Sihu Township’s unique nature and cultural and geographical environment helps understand present lifestyle and living environment. Because of its location by the sea, the change of geographical environment is one of Sihu’s features. For example, the Santiaolun area near the harbor was built with forts, batteries, irrigation canals, camp flags, etc. during Japanese occupation. They all sank into the sea because of changes caused by geographical environment. They are still faintly visible when the tide falls.
