Happiness Car for needed has once again start its journey to pick up everyone who are in need of transportation especially in the rural areas of the county. As stated by Ding Yan-Zhe, the Director of Social Affairs Department, this shuttle is specially build to accommodate elderly, disables, and anyone who are in need of transportation to the hospitals, to visit a friend, and to go places where public transpiration are in shortage.
In the morning of March 15, shuttle launch ceremony is held at the Da Qi Square of Linnei Township, and the shuttles line up for final inspection. The shuttles will be serving 5 townships in the county. Led by Linnei Township Mayor Qiu Shi-Weh, Gukeng Township Mayor Lin Hui-Ru, Huwei Township Mayor Lin Wen-Bin, and Dapi Township Mayor Xie Ming-Pian, and about hundred residents go onto the shuttles for their first ride. At the end of the ceremony, the shuttle head off to their designated township and start serving its people.
The ex-magistrate, Li Jin-Yong states that 8 years ago a similar program had been praised by many and it was at the time of economic crisis. This time the shuttles are also specially made for which it is elder and disable friendly; hence people will feel going to places is a piece of cake.
Director Ding points out that Happiness Car in Yunlin County has been in trail for the second years in 5 townships and it has brought elders out of their homes to explore new horizons.
Gukeng Township Mayor Lin Hui-Ru says a large number of villages in the region are still without public transportation. Fortunately, Happiness Car can make up for the lack of public transport and provide attentive connection services.
The 80-year-old elderly Mrs. Zheng from Kouhu Township says that it was very problematic, before Happiness Car is in service, to go to the clinic without public transportation and it is very expensive to take taxi; it has made her sleepless a night before going to the clinic.
Happiness car will be available for year on end in Gukeng Township, Huwei Township, Kouhu Township, Linnei Township, and Dapi Township.
