A different Yunlin! Taiwan's first wind and hydrofoil racing competition attracted nearly 70 contestants take off with their "wings"

"The '2023 Yunlin County 3rd Kite Surfing Open and Experience Event' was successfully held yesterday, the 28th, with favorable winds in Yunlin. The kite surfing competition was presided over by Director Li Mingyue of the Yunlin County Government's Planning Department. In the men's sprint competition, the top three winners were Zhuang Jiuwei, Zeng Zonglian, and Zhuang Jiudian, while in the women's rounding competition, the top three were Hou Jialing, Li Jiuyu, and Wu Qiufen. For the men's high jump exhibition competition, the top three participants were, in order, Zeng Zonglian, Ji Sunhao, and Zheng Xiang. In the women's high jump exhibition competition, the top three were Hou Jialing, Li Jiuyu, and Lin Zhiyun. Congratulations to all the winning contestants!"

"Following today's (29th) events is the windfoil racing competition, which continues to get adrenaline rushing. Zeng Wenrui, a seasoned kitesurfing player with over three years of experience in windfoiling, expressed that windfoiling is an emerging sport driven by wind power. Many people are still unfamiliar with it, but as global trends change, windfoiling has become the fastest-growing segment in wind sports. In comparison to kitesurfing and windsurfing, windfoiling is easier to learn, allowing you to quickly experience the speed control provided by the wind. It's less dependent on wind strength, and with the added advantage of double buoyancy in windfoils and hydrofoils, it's a safer option, making it a better entry point. The sensation of taking off and gliding is addictive!"

"In addition to the enthusiastic registration response for this kitesurfing event, the Planning Office and the organizing committee initially scheduled a performance by windfoil and hydrofoil players on October 29th. However, when they called for participants to perform, they received an enthusiastic response from extreme sports enthusiasts from the North, Central, South, and Outlying Islands. The inquiries poured in, prompting them to officially upgrade the originally planned performance into a windfoil and hydrofoil racing competition. While this event has previously only been held in Penghu, Yunlin organized it for the first time and attracted nearly 70 talented participants. Early in the morning, extreme sports enthusiasts and spectators from various regions flocked to Sanjoron Beach to witness the competition and cheer on the windfoil and hydrofoil athletes! The top three winners were awarded this afternoon (29th), namely Zhuang Jiuwei, Wang Hongshao, and Zhuang Jiudian!"

Li Mingyue, Director of the Planning Department, added that in addition to the exciting wind and hydrofoil competitions that can be watched today, professional wind and hydrofoil technicians have been thoughtfully arranged to provide commentary on the event. Interested people can go directly to the viewing platform without registration and enjoy the wind and hydrofoil competition. To gain a deeper knowledge and understanding of wing sports; and to register for a hard-to-find "water sports experience" every year, a total of 6 sessions of kitesurfing, windsurfing and stand-up will be held on October 29th, November 4th and 5th. There are many water sports experiences such as paddle boarding. In addition to the excitement on the water, there are also many things on land! Four "Ocean Environmental Education Tours" are planned on land. The tour content includes ocean cleaning, ecological tours, oyster dissection experiences, parent-child orientation and other informative and interesting activities.
