What is viral hepatitis? What are hepatitis viruses?

A certain group of viruses tend to invade and replicate in liver cells after entering the body. The viruses may induce inflammation after a period of latency, and this latency is the sign of acute "viral hepatitis." Five types of hepatitis viruses (types A, B, C, D, and E) have been discovered thus far; although yet not verified, types F and G, and possibly others, may also exist.
